Dr. Soma Saha is a Faculty, Psychiatric Social Worker and family/marital/child therapist. She is employed at the Institute of Psychiatry, A Centre of Excellence in Kolkata from 2015 to present mainly at the Psychiatric Social Work department but at the same time she provides consultations for children with behavioural problem and their family members also conduct specialized training courses. From 2008 to 2014, she has been working at the community centres, Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi where she has been practising mental health, clinical social work. Her achievement in teaching is highly acknowledged. She contributed the new department in eastern part of India, where the training course is available under recognition of university, where students can be placed. Her professional efforts, great number of seminars and educations she participated in, published papers, initiative she has been taking in order to see the inclusive development of many marginalised populations, case interventions, working with special populations, conducting biggest epidemiological survey in her area was the subjects of her research work (specialised in Stress and Coping Strategies, Personality Factors, Empathy among mental health trainees, Identification of Transgender Children, problem attached with it, working with tribal populations etc.). Finished graduate studies in Social Work, masters in Psychiatric Social Work, Doctoral in service delivery system of Indian policies. Her area of interest is mainly to work in community marginalised population and to teach and guide the inspiring students.
Dr. Soma Saha research interests are Stress and Coping Strategies, Personality Factors, Empathy among mental health trainees, Identification of Transgender Children, problem attached with it, working with tribal populations etc.
