Biography

Dr. Gina LaRocca Scholarly Interests include Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging (CMR/CTA), Echocardiography, Congenital Heart Disease in Adolescents and Adults (ACHD), Academia and Teaching. She is actively involved in teaching Icahn School of Medicine medical students, medicine residents and cardiology fellows (2015 to present). She is cardiovascular skills include Level 3 cardiac MRI, cardiac CTA and echocardiography.At the NIH/NHLBI, She was responsible for the care of patients undergoing research for cardiac CTA and cardiac MRI (2012-2015). During this time she had the privilege of meeting a wide range of patients with an extensive list of disease states. She was also responsible for the weekly cardiovascular grand rounds where she presented clinical cases to the division of cardiology at the NHLBI. She have served as an attending physician in the CCU for five consecutive years at Weill Cornell Medical College (2007-2012). Here she successfully taught cardiology and cardiovascular disease to medical students, interns, residents, fellows, and colleagues on a daily basis in academic and clinical settings. she had launched and served as the initial Director of the first Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Center at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC): overseeing program from conception to successful daily operations (2007 to 2012).


Research Interest

Dr. Gina LaRocca research interests are novel biomarkers: MMP-9 and TIMP-1 which are associated with and Cardiovascular Disease, cardiac MRI that lead to a publication in High Spatial and Temporal Resolution Retrospective Cardiac Cine MRI from Shortened Free Breathing Real-Time Acquisitions and cardiac MRI and the novel biomarkers.
