Dr. Lorena Larez was born in Venezuela. She received her medical degree from the Universidad De Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela and completed her ophthalmology residency at the Hospital Militar Dr. Carlos Arvelo in Caracas, Venezuela. She has specialized in the medical and surgical management of Cataracts, Cornea and Anterior Segment Disease, Corneal Disorders, Corneal Dystrophies, External Diseases of the Eye, Fuchs Dystrophy of the Cornea, Laser Surgery, Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery PTK, LASIK and PRK. Dr. Larez served as executive medical director at the Centro Clínico Oftalmológico Santa Lucía in Caracas from 2000 to 2006. In 2012 she had the opportunity to start coordinating Clinical Trials in Ophthalmology at Wilmer Eye Institute-Johns Hopkins University, and currently at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute-University of Miami in the retina department with several pharmaceutical companies.
