Accomplished clinician and clinical researcher Dr, Guay first obtained a medical degree from University of Montreal where she also graduated as a paediatrician and an anaesthesiologist. She began her career at Ste-Justine Hospital, a university hospital dedicated to mother and children. There, she practices and teaches paediatric anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and paediatric critical care for twelve years. At the time her research focused mainly on perioperative blood losses and paediatric resuscitation. She then moved to Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, a general hospital affiliated to University of Montreal, where she stayed for seventeen years. There she developed a passion for regional anaesthesia. Dr. Guay is currently affiliated to University of Quebec in Abitibi-Temiscamingue and University of Sherbrooke, in Quebec, Canada. Dr. Guay is author or co-author of 90 peer-reviewed articles and two books.
Dr. Guay actual research interest is applications of regional anaesthesia to improve perioperative outcomes.
