Dr. Gianmaria Pennelli MD is an Assistant Professor of Pathology in the University of Padua. In 1999 he was graduated in Medicine and in 2004 was obtained Residency in Anatomic Pathology in University of Padua. Since 2005 he has been teaching Pathology, Histology and Anatomy in many academic courses at the University of Padua and he is deputy headmaster in a Master for Pathologists’ assistants of University of Padua. He is an active Investigator in many national & international clinical studies in endocrine and gastrointestinal pathology. He is Member in Scientific Organizations like Italian Society of Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology (SIAPEC-IAP) and Italian Pathologists Group of the Digestive System (GIPAD).
He have worked in various types of multidisciplinary teams in endocrine and gastrointestinal fields, principally about thyroid, parathyroid and gastrointestinal tract and have co-operated within a team for the assessment of gastritis staging (OLGA), especially focusing in the autoimmune form. Above all he coordinate a team regarding thyroid carcinomas, with an in depth interest for their aggressive variants and molecular biology of papillary carcinoma. His main field of interest regards medullary thyroid carcinoma and its clinic-pathological and molecular features.
