Dr. Abrar Nasser Maqsud is a passionate psychiatry resident physician. Her passion started when her little hands reached a psychology book and a family medicine book in her 6th grade of primary school, and ever since, her dream began. She excelled in school and had many appreciation certificates all the way to medical college at Taibah University, Madinah, Saudi Arabia, where she got a prize as the top student in psychiatry course and exceeded expectations. She graduated with an above average GPA and got the 2nd place award for one of her published research papers. She attended many courses and conferences in psychiatry field and got awards and appreciation certificates for her volunteer work in health sector. She didn’t settle for a regular experience in her internship; instead, she had her rotations in more than one hospital, city, and even country. She had an amazing notable experience in Alberta mental hospital, Ponoka, Stollery children’s hospital, and others in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Where she learned about and had exposure to general adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and psychology. That experience consolidated her interest in these subspecialties. She moved from her hometown “Madinah” to eastern region to work in King Fahad specialist hospital (KFSH) in Dammam, eastern region, Saudi Arabia, with encouragement of the mental health department at KFSH whom she worked with during her internship. The psychiatry program director in eastern region; whom she also worked with, welcomed her to join the psychiatry residency program where she joined with a strong intent of becoming a sound consultant in the field. She likes writing poetry, stories, and movies’ scripts and she likes photography, painting, acting, inventing, and design internal designs in her free time.
Dr. Abrar Nasser Maqsud research interests are mood disorders, psychology and psychotherapy, creativity, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry.
