Biography

Shaynah Wanga received her medical degree at the Erasmus University, Rotterdam Netherlands. She now works at the department of Cardiology and Medical Biochemistry of the Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam Netherlands as a PhD candidate. Her main research focus is the discovery of new therapeutic targets and prognostic markers for aortic disease in the Marfan syndrome. This connective tissue disorder can affect different organs including the cardiovascular system, the skin and also the lungs. Over the years she has acquired experience with clinical as well as basic/experimental research. She has also collaborated with different departments abroad including the department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, McGill University, Canada


Research Interest

Shaynah has an interest in aneurysm development, internal medicine, clinical/translational research and experimental/basic research. She has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Pathology, Canadian Journal of Cardiology, American Journal of Physiology, Renal Physiology and Plos One
