Dr. Bettermann is an Associate Professor of Neurology and a stroke specialist at Penn State College of Medicine. She has received her M.D. and her Ph.D. in Neurophysiology from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. She has completed her Neurology Residency training at Wake Forest University in 2003 and Vascular Neurology Fellowship training in 2004. She is board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by The American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. Dr. Bettermann is the director of the Stroke Research Center at Penn State College of Medicine. She serves as reviewer, scientific advisor and is on the editorial board for several neurological journals. She is Principle Investigator in many national & international clinical stroke and cerebrovascular studies. She is a Member of the ANA, AAN, ASA and other professional societies. She has published in medical peer reviewed journals, periodicals, books and at national and international conferences.
