Biography

Dr. Luis Horta is a Neurosurgeon Physician and Serves as Public Servant 12 at the Neurosurgery Service of the "Baca Ortiz" Pediatric Hospital in Quito, Ecuador. He received a gold degree from Doctor of Medicine, in 1995 and a First Degree Specialist in Neurosurgery in 1999, at the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara, Cuba. After graduating he began working at the Pediatric University Hospital "José Luis Miranda", Santa Clara, Cuba, for 14 years and was the leader of the Department of Neurosurgery during the last two years. He obtained his Master's degree in Integral Child Care in 2009. Assistant Professor of the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara since November 2011. In 2014 he moved to Ecuador and since December of that year he works as a Neurosurgeon in the public sector, first at the Specialty Hospital Dr. Abel Gilbert Pontón and since April 2016 in his current position. He is a member of the Cuban Scientific Society of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Ecuadorian Society of Neurosurgery and the Latin American Federation of Neurosurgery. Has participated in multiple workshops and specialization courses. He is currently a member of the Organizing Committee the International Conference on Neurology and Health Care 2018


Research Interest

Dr. Luis Horta's research is focused on Brain and Spinal Tumors, Hydrocephalus, Craniosynostosis, Chiari Malformation, Epilepsy Surgery, Spinal Dysraphism, Traumatic Brain Injury, Arteriovenous Malformations.
