Biography

Dr. Sumana R. Chintalapudi is a Postdoctoral Associate at The Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, Maine (USA). She received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from St. Xavier’s College (India), master’s degree in Biomedical Genetics from VIT University (India) and doctoral degree in Vision Neuroscience at Hamilton Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, UTHSC Memphis, USA. Dr. Chintalapudi has over 8 years of research experience in the field of neuroscience, systems/computational biology and molecular/cell biology. She has authored 6 first-author publications in high- tier journals and a book chapter and received several awards. Dr. Chintalapudi has presented several research papers in international/national conferences and also serves as the reviewer of several international journals like Molecular Vision, PlosOne, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Experimental Biology and Medicine. She is a member of several prestigious societies including Society of Neuroscience, Sigma Xi, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.


Research Interest

Identification of novel therapeutic targets and understanding molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of various visual/neurological disorders. She has expertise in neurobiology, molecular/cell biology and systems biology using genetically engineered animal models and cell lines.
