Biography

Mihail Cristian Pirlog is a Lecturer in Medical Sociology, Bioethics and Behavioral Sciences in Faculty of Medicine - University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova, Romania, and also Sociologist in 1st Psychiatry Clinic of Craiova. He obtained his PhD degree in Psychiatry (University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova), and his Master in Public Health degree in same institution, after he graduated Philosophy and Sociology BSc in University of Craiova. He was also involved in Fogarty Fellowship – REMASTER; University of California Berkeley, Nicholas C. Petris Center on Health Care Markets and Consumer Welfare, Berkeley, USA. Nowadays, he is the President of Mental Health Association of South-Eastern Europe (MHASEE), and also member of the board of MindReset.Net – National Network of Mental Health, European Scientific Association on Schizophrenia and other Psychoses (ESAS), World Psychiatric Association (WPA), European Public Health Association (EUPHA) – Section on Chronic Diseases, Romanian Association of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (ARPP), Romanian Association of Social Psychiatry (ARPS), Inomedica.


Research Interest

Mihail Cristian Pirlog is interested in the study mental health and social and economic factors involved in the psychiatric pathology, stigma toward mental illnesses, cultural and social differences in the attitude related with psychopathology, and the role of healthcare professionals in the management of individuals affected by mental health disorders. Currently he is involved in international researches in the field of community psychiatry and psychoeducation.
