Dr. Minmin Liu is a research scientist in Van Andel Research Institute at Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. She received her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of Vermont mentored by Dr. Susan S. Wallace. There, Dr. Liu studied DNA repair mechanisms focusing on DNA glycosylases that recognize DNA base damages and initiate Base Excision Repair pathway. She also used X-ray crystallography to solve the structure of DNA glycosylases. Her current research focuses on understanding the epigenetic mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and developing more effective epigenetic therapy for cancer treatment. Dr. Liu has a solid publication record in high profile journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Structure, the Journal of Biological Chemistry, PLOS Genetics, and Proteomics, etc. Dr. Liuís areas of expertise include proteomics, X-ray crystallography, and epigenomics.
Dr. Minmin Liuís research interests include DNA repair mechanisms, epigenetic mechanisms and their roles in tumorigenesis, as well as translating this knowledge into the development of more effective epigenetic therapy for cancer treatment.
