Biography

Dr. Andrea Benso (borned in 1973) is Assistant Professor at the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolism of the University of Turin, Italy, since 2010. He postgraduated in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Turin in 2003 and granted his PhD in Clinical Science in 2006. He has conducted his training course under the supervision of Prof. Ezio Ghigo. He has worked both in national and international projects (MURST, PRIN, Progetti di Ricerca Sanitaria Finalizzata Regione Piemonte, 6th Framework Programme for Research, Techological Development and Demonstration). At present he is member of the Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE), of the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and of the Italian Society of Diabetology (SID). Initially involved in clinical research in neuroendocrinology and cardiovascular endocrinology, in the last years his interest is mainly focused in clinical practice in diabetes mellitus, lipid metabolism, Fabry Disease and hyponatremia. At present he his co-head of Cardiovascular Endocrinology and Clinical Trials in the Cardiometabolic Area at the Clinical Research Centre of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolism of the University of Turin.


Research Interest

Andrea Benso research interests are: diabetes mellitus, exerecise in diabetes mellitus type 1, Fabry Disease, hyponatremia (SIAD in particular), obesity, endocrine and metabolic adaptation to high altitude cronich hypoxia.
