Biography

Dr. Hanan El-Sayed Badr, MD, MPH, DrPH. Professor of Public Health, High Institute of Public Health, University of Alexandria, Egypt. Currently, she is working in the Department of Community Medicine & Behavioral Sciences, Kuwait University. Prof. Badr’s research interest is the risk factors & the determinants of metabolic disorders and diseases. Meaningful understanding of these underlying disease contributors is necessary in planning different program interventions that help in preventing disease occurrence. Adolescent health is another area of research interest. She believes that unhealthy lifestyle and adopting risky behaviors started early in life and continues to adulthood. For instance, physical inactivity, and unhealthy eating habits contribute in the development of obesity, which is a central reason for the development of several metabolic diseases. Prof. Badr trusts that changing patients’ lifestyle and assessing patients’ quality of life of patients ought to be added parameters in monitoring the disease progress parallel to pharmaceutical medications. Prof. Badr has more than forty five publications and participated in 55 projects during more than 25 years of experience in research.
