Dr. Barbara Zanini, MD, PhD, was born in Brescia (Italy) on December 9th 1972. She was graduated cum laude in 1998 and complete the specialist residency in Infectious Diseases at the University of Brescia in 2002. She earned a Physical Doctor degree in Clinical Trial Methodology in 2007. She is a Research Fellow at the Chair of Gastroenterology at the University of Brescia since 2015. She is involved in teaching and student supporting at the Academic Dietician Course of the University of Brescia. She was involved in local scientific committee for EXPO 2015 and EAST Lombardy 2017. She collaborates with local authorities for improving food service in school and community and to encourage and actively organize educational programs for all age groups about healthy lifestyle habits. She received several travel grants as “Young Investigator” and awards as “Poster of Distinction” from several Scientific Societies (AGA in Digestive Disease Week; BSG, EASL, UEG). She is author of more than 30 full papers in international peer reviewed journals and of more than 80 abstracts in national and international congress. Author of an educational book about low-FODMAPs diet.
She was involved in research in the field of viral hepatitis, HCV-HIV co-infection, metabolic liver disorders, end stage liver disease, antiviral treatment in special population, celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, food intolerance and allergy, nutrition, dietetic approach to several diseases, FODMAPs intolerance, ancient wheats, prebiotics.
