Born in Catania, Italy, September 10, 1973 He spent his young years in Giarre, 20 km away from Catania, where he finished primary and high school. He moved to Catania in 1992 for University and he lives there since then. Once he reached Medical Degree in 1998, he became Specialist in Anesthesia and Intensive Care in 2002, and he is since then working in Policlinico Vittorio Emanuele University Hospital in Catania, a large teaching hospital with almost any medical and surgical specialty. He was working in ICU, with organ transplant surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, oncologic surgery but also in NORA and MAC. His main field of interest is airway management, which he follows since 2001 under the leadership, friendship and mentorship of Prof Giulio Frova, Prof Flavia Petrini and many other members of the SIAARTI Airway Research Group which is today eventually leading. He is also Board member of European airway Management society and member of ESA Subcommittee 11, respiration and airway Management. He has been running or coordinating more than 200 workshops, he was invited lecturer in more than 200 national and international meetings, also as member of ASA, SAM, ESA, EAMS, ESPCOP, ESCTAIC. His research activity is witnessed by many indexed publications, book chapters, e-learning platforms including ESA Academy, and by intense teaching activity with residents in Anesthesia in University of Catania and University of Prague, where he is honorary senior lecturer. When he is not dealing with airway management, you can find him on the sea, or above the sea during his diving activity, or going around in his wonderful Sicily with his not less wonderful wife Ivana.
