Dr. Sahar Navidghasemizad received her PhD degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Alberta in January 2013. She was a visiting scientist and researcher at the University of Helsinki -Department of Microbiology and Applied Chemistry before joining the University of Alberta. She earned her Masterís in Food Science and Bachelorís in Food Engineering from Tabriz University in Iran. She has conducted multidisciplinary studies in several areas of food science and technology such as microbiology and molecular biology, analytical chemistry and processing. She has published research papers in food chemistry, food microbiology, and food processing topics. In addition to her extensive academic background, Sahar has been active and worked directly with food industries mainly at Quality Assurance Department in Iran and Canada.
Her research interests include food safety and quality assurance, bioprocessing, clean technologies for food and nutraceutical industries and current subjects on global food chain and security.
