Emina Čolak graduated from School of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ph.D. degree received at School of Pharmacy University of Belgrade, Serbia, while she was working at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Center of Serbia, Belgrade. She finished specialization on Medical Biochemistry at The School of Medicine University of Novi Sad, Serbia, in 1992., and subspecialization in Clinical Enzymology in 2011., at The School of Pharmacy University of Belgrade, Serbia. Currently, she is the Head of Department of Science, Scientific Research and Education, of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Center of Serbia. She is also, Academic supervisor and menthor for medical doctors on specialization in Clinical Biochemistry at the Medical School University of Belgrade, and supervisor for Ph.D. degree School od Dentistry University of Belgrade. She was acted as referee for over 10 medical journals. She is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Medical Biochemistry-the official journal of Serbian Society of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine. She is a fellow of the Serbian Society of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicne, member of the Chamber of Medical Biochemists of Serbia and member of the Serbian Medical Society. She is the author of more than 200 publications in Serbian and international journals.
Dr. Emina Colak's current research is focused on oxidative stress and antioxidant status in humans, underlying the most frequent contemporary diseases, such as: atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, paradontopathy, degenerative age-related diseases (Age-related macular degeneration) etc. One part of her research is related to laboratory work and concerns the pre-analytical phase of laboratory testing.
