Dr. Oscar P. Díaz, Ph.D, MSc, Professor of Biology and Natural Sciences, has developed his academic work in several Universities of Chile, such as University of Santiago of Chile during 43 years. Actually he is Professor part - time at the University of Concepción in Chile. Dr. Oscar Díaz is an expert in food and environment chemical toxic, mainly heavy metals, arsenic and some of its chemical structure (speciation), its effects in the ecosystem and the human health (risk assessment). Also, he has worked in biotechnology research, specifically on bioremediation of soil and water, using some native plant species. Dr. Oscar Díaz, has written several manuscripts, book chapters including a book titled: Advance in Toxicology of Chemical Contaminants in Foods, associated to a famous Cuban biochemistry. Dr. Díaz enjoys a stellar academic and fascinating career in research. He is a known scientific both in Chile as out of his country, professor, biologist and toxicologist. He has worked as a Consultant in some Chilean Public Institutions, such as Public Health Institute, depending on the Public Health Ministery, concerning heavy metals and arsenic regulation in foods. He believes that prevention is better than intervention. Dr. Oscar Díaz has developed several research projects supported by both international as national agencies such as CYTED and CSIC from Spain and FONDECYT and CODELCO from Chile. He has over 50 published articles, conference presentation, paper reviews and book reviews. Dr. Oscar Díaz believes that science must be aimed to improve the human life quality.
