Ibrahima Farikou was graduated fron the University Centre for Health Sciences (C.U.S.S.), University of Yaounde I, Cameroon (1982, Yaounde, Cameroon) with qualification « Medical Doctor (General Practionner) ». He worked as a doctor in rural areas before undertaking Specialization in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery. In addition to the Interuniversity Diploma of Specialization in Orthopedic Surgery (1995, Strasbourg, France), he holds a University Certificate of Sports Traumatology (Strasbourg, 1993), a University Diploma in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery (1995, Strasbourg, France), a University Diploma in Arthroscopy (1997, Strasbourg, France), a University Diploma of Medical Pedagogy obtained 2007, Strasbourg, France) and the Diploma of SICOT passed in english (2007, Marrakech, Morocco). Back from specialization in France in 1997, he works as an Orthopedic Surgeon at the National Center for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled in Yaounde and a Consultant for Orthopedic Surgery at the General Reference Hospital in Douala. He was at the same time appointed Lecturer of Orthopedics / Traumatology (1998) and then promoted Senior Lecturer (2003), Assistant Master (2009). In 2014 he passed, at the continental African level, the very selective Competition of Agrégation of the African and Malagasy Council for Hogher Education (CAMES) of Orthopedic Surgery and became Associate Professor. As a teacher he delivers teatchings of anatomy, semiotics and pathology of the locomotor apparatus to medical students and specialty residents of general surgery and orthopedics / traumatology since 1998 to date. He also participates in the supervision of medical internships for medical students and residents. He recently participated in training courses and research in pediatric orthopedics (2006/2007, Strasbourg, France) and then in knee and hip arthroplasty (2013, Strasbourg, France). He has to date 59 articles in french and in english published in national, regional (african) and international journals. He is presently Head of the Teachings of Orthopedic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaounde I, Cameroon, Head of the Department of Medico-Sanitary Care at Cardinal Paul Emile Leger National Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Persons with Disabilities (CNRPH-CPEL) of Yaoundé (2014), Member of National Medical Council of Cameroon (1982), Vice-President of the Cameroonian College of Orthopaedic and Traumatology Surgery (COCACOT, 2015), Associate Member of French Orthopaedic and Traumatology Surgery Association (SOFCOT, 2001), Active member of the Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie (SICOT, 2003), Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS, 2004) and active member of the International Society of Surgery (SIC-ISS, 2010).
