Dr. Youngil Lee is Assistant Professor of Exercise Science & Community Health and the director of Molecular and Cellular Exercise Physiology Laboratory at the University of West Florida. Dr. Lee received a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology from the University of Florida. Dr. Lee serves as an advisory board member to Korea Coach Association for Strength & Conditioning and active board member of Korean United States Applied Physiology Society. Also, he is an Editorial Board member of Sports and Exercise Medicine and has served as a journal reviewer in several scientific journals including Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, BioMed Research International and Journal of Sports Science. He has published numerous high impact journal articles.
His research focuses on investigating potential molecular protective mechanisms against ischemia-reperfusion injury. His research shows that enhanced autophagy/mitophagy is an important mediator of cardiac protection.
