Dr. Chandan Kumar, Assistant Professor, Madhav University, Rajasthan obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree and Master of Science (M.Sc.) from the prestigious Ranchi University, Ranchi which is the oldest government university of Jharkhand. Right after, his Ph.D. was also completed from Ranchi University in specialization of Biochemistry, Physiology, Endocrinology and Histopathology on the topic of antihyperglycemic activity of phyto-extract on albino rats upto molecular and histopathological studies of liver, kidney and pancreas of albino rats. At the beginning of his research carrier during Master of Science and Master of Philosophy programme, he worked in the most thrust area of toxicology on toxicological effects of heavy metals on air breathing fishes. During his M.Phil., he identified the mechanism of heavy metals (like Hg, Pb etc.) poisoing and its recovery methods on Channa batrachus as final year project work. Afterward he did P.G. diploma in Sericulture/Silk Technology from reputated Central Tasar Research and Training Institute, Ranchi (Central Silk Board, Govt. of India) where he worked on micropropagation of Terminalia arjuna Roxb. bark (Plant tissue culture) as final year project work. For his doctoral degree (Ph.D) programme he choosed Animal Biochemistry and Physiology division at Dept. of Zoology, Ranchi University, Ranchi and studied on hypoglycemic potential of acetone extract of Terminalia arjuna Roxb. bark on type-II diabetic albino rats in comparision with antihyperglycemic drug like glimepiride. During his doctoral programme he has found best biotherapeutic activity of acetone extract of Terminalia arjuna Roxb. bark on albino rats. His major and most of the Ph.D. thesis research practical works was completed in the Biochemistry & Biotechnology laboratories of National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (Haryana); Banaras Hindu University, Banaras (U.P); Birsa Agriculture University, Ranchi and Central Tasar Research and Training Institute, Ranchi (Jharkhand). Apart from research at the same time, he was working as Junior research fellow (JRF) on UGC major research project “Synergistic effect of Terminalia arjuna bark and Nigella sativa seed on Type-II diabetic abino rats” and also he was taking care teaching graduate and master degree students for human resource development and extension activities. He has also completed the Diploma certificate course on Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance from a medical research institute of New Delhi, India. His publications includes 12 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals, 8 abstracts published in international and national conferences/seminar, 5 full papers published in seminar and conferences. He was worked as Asst. Professor in Ranchi University, Ranchi, Nodal Project Co-ordinator in Karnataka State Sericulture Research and development Institute (KSSRDI), Bangalore for the DBT (Govt. of India) sponsored project. He has attained many workshops and trainings related to biochemistry and biotechnology in National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal, Haryana, Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, UP, Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR), Bhubaneswar, Orissa, SHRM Biotechnologies Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata (W.B.) and Madhav University, Rajasthan. He has Participated in National/International Conferences, Seminars, and Symposiums time to time for skill upgradation/development and current research & technology scenario. Also he is active volunteer of NGO & Societies in Agriculture, Sericulture, biotechnology and Educational sectors for knowledge extension and Rural development. Dr. Chandan is recipient of Young Scientist Gold Medal by ICCB, Ranchi and also DOS MP Gold medal by Central Silk Board (Govt. of India), Bangalore. He has cleared prestigious National level CTET (Combined Teacher Eligibility Test) exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. He is active member of Reviewer committee of “Indian Journal of Experimental Biology, IJEB” (A monthly peer-reviewed international journal of NISCAIR, CSIR, New Delhi), “Phytomedicine” (Elsevier Journal, Netherland) and also Product Reviewer of “Biocompare” (The Buyer’s guide for life scientist, USA).
