Dr. Praveen K. Raj Kumar is currently working as a Bioinformatics scientist at Chan Soon-Shiong Institute of Molecular Medicine at Windber. He has Masters in Biophysics from University of Madras, Chennai, India and a Masters and Ph.D in Bioinformatics (Department of Biology) from Miami University, OH, USA. He completed his postdoctoral fellow at the School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. He has eight peer reviewed publications including a method paper in reputed Nature’s scientific reports and a total of 54 citations as of 11 July 2017.
His research expertise is in the field of transcriptomics and genomics including analysis of high throughput sequencing, alternative splicing & polyadenylation analysis, gene annotation and the use of applied machine learning to predict cis-regulatory sequences. He is also interested in the analyses of proteomics data derived from mass spectrometry. His current research focus is to understand the underlying reason for molecular heterogeneity within breast cancer subtypes leveraging proteogenomics data.
